1. Cause of malfunction

1) The side clearance and opening clearance of the piston ring are too large, or the labyrinth path of the air ring opening is shortened, or the sealing of the piston ring is poor; After surface wear, its sealing performance deteriorates.

2) Excessive wear between the piston and cylinder will increase the gap between the matching cylinders, causing the piston to swing in the cylinder and affecting the good sealing between the piston ring and the cylinder.

3) Due to glue and carbon buildup, the piston ring is stuck in the piston ring groove and cannot exert its elasticity, resulting in the loss of the sealing surface between the gas ring and the cylinder wall.

Cylinder strain. When pulling the cylinder, the seal between the piston ring and the cylinder is broken, resulting in low cylinder pressure.

5) Mismatched pistons have been installed. For some engines, the depth of the concave pits on the top of the piston varies, and improper use can affect cylinder pressure.

6) The cylinder gasket is damaged, the valve seat ring is loose, the valve spring is broken or insufficient, the valve and valve guide are not tightly sealed due to carbon deposition or small clearance, which hinders the up and down movement of the valve;

7) Incorrect installation of the timing gear, incorrect gear keyway, excessive damage or wear of the timing gear, wheel load on the camshaft timing gear, and loose wheels can lead to incorrect valve timing.

8) Using mismatched Pneumatic Cylinder heads. If there is a pneumatic cylinder head, the combustion chamber volume may vary. If installed incorrectly, cylinder pressure will be affected.

Improper adjustment of the gap between the intake and exhaust valves, or poor sealing with the valve seat, or improper operation during cylinder pressure testing.

10) For engines equipped with pressure reducing devices, improper adjustment of the clearance of the pressure reducing device leads to loose valve closure

2. Troubleshooting

At present, there are many methods to detect cylinder pressure using a cylinder pressure gauge. Cylinder pressure can be detected by measuring the current and voltage of the starter motor; In addition, the method of measuring cylinders by compressing air with hoses can also be used.
