Introduction to rodless cylinder

A rodless cylinder refers to a cylinder that uses a piston to directly or indirectly connect an external actuator, allowing it to follow the piston and achieve reciprocating motion. The biggest advantage of this type of cylinder is that it saves installation space and is divided into magnetic rodless cylinders and mechanical rodless cylinders. Rodless cylinders can be used as actuators in pneumatic systems. Can be used for opening and closing doors in automobiles, subways, and CNC machine tools, mobile positioning of robotic arm coordinates, part transfer for centerless grinders, feed devices for combination machine tools, automatic wire feeding, paper cutting, and electrostatic spraying.

Characteristics of rodless cylinders

Compared with standard cylinders, magnetic rodless cylinders have the following characteristics:

The overall installation size is small and the installation space is small, saving about 44% of installation space compared to standard cylinders.

The magnetic rodless cylinder has the same piston area at both ends of thrust and tension, so the thrust and tension values are equal, making it easy to achieve intermediate positioning. When the piston speed is 250mm/s, the positioning accuracy can reach ± 1.0mm.

The surface of the piston rod of a standard cylinder is prone to dust and rust, and the piston rod seal may absorb dust and impurities, leading to leakage. However, the outer slider of the magnetic rodless cylinder will not experience this situation, nor will it cause external leakage.

Magnetic rodless cylinders can produce ultra long stroke specifications. The ratio of standard cylinder diameter to stroke is generally not more than 1/15, while the ratio of rodless cylinder diameter to stroke can reach about 1/100, and the longest stroke that can be generated is within 3m. Meet the needs of long stroke applications.

2. Comparison between magnetic rodless cylinder and mechanical rodless cylinder:

The magnetic rodless cylinder has a small volume, with installation threads and nuts at both ends, and can be directly installed on the equipment.

Magnetic rodless cylinders have relatively small loads and are suitable for working on small cylinder components or robotic arms.

When the basic non-magnetic rod cylinder moves forward and backward, the slider may rotate, and a guide rod guide device must be added, or a magnetic rod cylinder with a guide rod must be selected.

Compared to mechanical rodless cylinders, there may be some leakage defects. The magnetic rodless cylinder has no leakage and can be installed and used without maintenance.
